Dr. Aneal Khan, Principle Investigator

Dr. Khan was the first physician in the world to treat Fabry disease and Gaucher disease using Gene Therapy, the first in Canada to use Liver Cell Transplant and Gene Therapy to treat Urea Cycle Diseases, and is experienced in using research drugs injected directly into the spine.

Elleine Allapitan, Research Coordinator

Elleine Allapitan is the G.R.I.T. Study’s research coordinator and has years of experience as a research assistant at the University of Calgary and the M.A.G.I.C. Clinic. Elleine has a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Psychology and a minor in Biological Sciences.

Desmond Koo

Desmond holds a Master of Biomedical Technology and a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences degree and has been working with Dr Khan for the past four years. Desmond is experienced in managing study contract and resources, and has acted as study coordinator for multiple trials in the past. For the G.R.I.T. Study, Desmond manages and coordinates technical resources to support the study team behind the scenes.​
